Sateboarding Longboard use same kind of bearing setup and installation as regular skateboards. As a result, the process for swapping out the wheel bearings with new ones is essentially the same. With a few basic hardware tools and some elbow grease, you can have your skateboarding longboard bearings changed and your longboard will then perform with a smoother ride.
Place your skateboarding longboard on a table or space where you can work. Use a socket wrench and an appropriate socket to loosen the wheel-retaining nut on all four wheels. Put the wheel nuts in a cup for safekeeping.
Pull the wheels off and catch the washer that sits between the wheel and retaining nut. Place the washers in the same cup as the wheel nuts.
Start with the first wheel and turn it on its side in the palm of your hand or place it flat on the table. Insert a Phillips screwdriver in the center of the first bearing and leverage it loose until the bearing pops out of the urethane wheel. Flip the wheel over and do the same for the bearing on the opposite side. Perform the same task for all four wheels.
Take a set of new wheel bearings for your skateboarding boards and separate out two bearings for the first wheel. Use a socket or piece of wood to carefully tap the new bearing into place in the first wheel's socket. Take your time instead of hammering super hard. Flip the wheel over and install the opposite-side bearing. Repeat the process for each wheel.
Insert the first wheel with the new bearings back on the skateboard axle. Reinstall the spacer and either use one of the old wheel nuts or install a new one. Tighten it down with the socket wrench and socket. Repeat the process for each wheel. Place the longboard on the ground outside and ride it to make sure all the wheels are working properly.
Throw away the old bearings or recycle them for metal. Keep the old hardware for extras in case you need them.
