Spin Basketball on Your Finger

After you master dribbling, passing and shooting, you may have time for showboating. Spinning a basketball on your finger has no practical in-game purpose, but it sure does impress. Practice it in your bedroom, watching TV in the living room or while your walking to school. Just don't waist precious court time acquiring this Globe Trotter's trick.

Find the Cross-seam Center
Find one of the two spots on the ball where four straight seems intersect to create a cross, left and right of the logo. Palm the ball, placing one of these crosses down in the middle of your palm. Hold the ball palm up at eye level and turn your hand in toward your face, then quickly snap your hand in the opposite direction, twisting a uniform spiral around the cross-seam while lofting it up in front of you. Unravel your hand with your index finger pointing straight up during the throw. Catch the spinning ball by balancing it on your index finger on the cross seam. The ball will spin longer on your fingernail and you can slap it lightly to keep it spinning.
