Simple Tips for Playing Dominoes

Dominoes is a popular game dating back centuries. A set is comprised of a number of rectangular tiles, and both ends of each tile contain a certain number of dots. Many different numbered sets are available, but the standard set is the "double-six" set. Multiple games exist using dominoes, but according to the website of the World Championship Domino Tournament, the most common and simplest game is the block game. The block game typically uses a double-six set of dominoes and is played by two players.

Place all dominoes face down on the table top or playing surface, and shuffle them by moving them around.

Choose a domino and have everyone else do the same. Whoever chose the domino with the most dots will go first in the game. Return all dominoes to the face-down pile, and shuffle again.

Choose seven dominoes each, placing the remainders in a pile to the side. Each player sets his dominoes so only he can see them. The first player takes his turn, placing one domino on the playing surface.

Match the number on a domino from the second player's selection to an open end of another domino previously played. Alternate turns.

Finish the game when a player has played all his dominoes or when both players are unable to continue playing due to no remaining matches. Whoever wins the game also wins the points, determined by the number of spots on his opponent's remaining dominoes

Continue playing until one player's score reaches 100 points. Whoever reaches 100 points first wins the entire game.
