The Instructions for Playing Cribbage

Cribbage is one of the oldest multiplayer card games. Players accumulate points according to card combinations either during play, in your hand or in the crib. The standard game of cribbage is a six card game for two players. The goal is to be the first player to reach 121 points. However, English players have adapted a five card cribbage game where the goal is reach 61 points first. The general instructions and point structures are the same.

Deal six cards to each player.

Place two cards face down and give them to the dealer to form a "crib." These cards will be turned face up at the end of the dealer's turn and scored as an additional hand for the dealer.

Split the deck and flip over the start card. The deck splitter has to be an opponent of the dealer, but the dealer flips the start card. If the start card is a jack, the dealer automatically receives two points.

Play single cards to form a pile in front each player. Card values begin from ace-1 through to 10 with jacks, queens and kings also worth 10 points each. If a player cannot play a card without going over 31 they must say "go" At this time the other player must play if he can without going over 31. If either player cannot play than the last player to lay a card receives the points.

Continue putting out cards to equal to 31 or less until you run out of cards. After each play is exhausted, turn over each players pile and start a new round following the same steps. This second round of play again continues until neither can play without going over 31. If one player runs out of cards, the other player must keep playing and scoring until all cards have been played.
