Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, family reunions, graduations, funerals all things that seem different, but at the same time they are all connected. They all bring people together.
Over the last few weeks there has been something going on that has done this, but more so in a MAJOR MAJOR way.
If you were any where near planet earth for the past few weeks you would in one way or another been acquainted with the greatest show on earth.
THE WORLD CUP.
As I write this I just finished watching the culmination of the greatest sporting event on earth. Something that unites the world like no other event. The FIFA World Cup finals between two very deserving teams Argentina vs. Germany.
What I love about what happened is that the these two teams both had motive, they both had opportunity, that both had history to make. Legacies were on the line.
Same chance, same opportunity but only one team would come out on top. Unfortunately that's just the way life is. Each team could have won it, but it came down to who was willing to do more, have more be more.
The Germans definitely (in my humble opinion) didn't want to go to a shootout with the Argentines. They are deadly there. So the Germans took advantage of every opportunity in the game that they had they took every inch. The Argentinian squad missed out on heaven sent opportunities three of them I can think of easily. From there best player to some of the others Higuain. I dare to say had they played like they had to climb through this game inch by inch there would have been more and they probably would have scored.
Germany had to do it the hard way and they didn't shy away from it, the contact, the exhaustion, the aches and pains they endured. And that is to be expected in just about any football game. But there is someone who is going to want to take every inch they get leaving nothing left. Germany got off to a very slow start while Argentina was by far the better side during the first half. Unfortunately Gonzalo Higuain and Lionel Messi missed two scoring opportunities. Higuain also had a goal dismissed and rightly so for being offside. Argentina was left to to wish they could go back in time and capitalize on their missed opportunities. As the match wore on Germany began dominating.
I wasn't pulling for the germans but I respected them. I probably should because I have some ancestors from there, Messi just happens to be one of my favorite players. If you watched the game you would have noticed something from the germans that wasn't as resonant with the Argentines and I'm no fan of the Germans team as I said already. But I love greatness. They stopped my guy from winning, but when you see greatness you've got to respect it.
The Germans have been hurting for this win for 24 years having not won since 2014 and having the wound reopened to the elements in 2002 losing in the finals to Brazil, losing in 2006 and 2010 in the semifinals. Out of that pain and hurt it pushed them to greatness.
