Throw Away Your Pills And Take Up Art

In the past I think I have tried all the anti depressants a local doctor could prescribe and I can say that being an artist has topped all the pills I ever took. I wished I had taken it up years ago as I wouldn't have needed any medication. Art is healing and refreshingly rewarding especially when you begin selling it and reaping those financial fruits. I have to mention that it's not always about selling. I feel just as great when someone admires one of my pieces, or I paint for a charity or friends and family. The joy of making other people happy with what you produce is a real buzz and it makes the hours and days of hard work really worth the effort.

Being a serious artist is pleasantly challenging and its something you own. We have our everyday nine to five, but we need something that rewards us as a creator. Everyone has an ability to create, the only possible object is finding the time to access it. Most of us are so busy with jobs, family life and other pressures that consume our time, and if we do manage to get some spare time, it might be well spent catching up on rest or sleep.

I believe we need to make the time in order to create. This is easier said than done as money is tight these days and the average person is working long hours which also involves both parties having to pull their weight. How do we make time to pursue an art career or any form of creative career for that matter? If you can set aside half an hour a day or every other day then that is a good start. It is really quite simple - yet a very effective way to begin a creative path.

If you have chosen to pursue the creativity of art, then you will need a sketch pad and a set of pencils which you can get from your local cheap shop to begin with. You don't need to outlay a lot of money to start. Grab a few canvasses and some acrylic paint along with some different sized brushes and some "how to" books on watercolour and oils. You won't need to go far to get art supplies just to begin. You can use an old dinner plate as a palette. Google anything you need to know about how to begin with art. It's all there.

You can always go to an art school if you're wanting to obtain a degree in art. I began my career three years ago therefore I didn't feel the need to tend an art school, I simply wanted to just get into it and let my own creative self take over. I teamed up with a well known Sydney artist who taught me the perspectives of art, which is rather like technical drawing. You can also attend art classes which are usually inexpensive and run in your local area. I recommend doing this as its a really good way to meet other artists who are at different levels, and you can get some really wonderful help to set you on your way while having fun at the same time.
