Creating Success From The Inside Out

I love the saying, "Success must be felt on the inside before it can be seen on the outside!"

This is such a true statement. Think about it. What's taking place on the outside of you in your life is really a reflection of what's happening on the inside. Even the small things are evidence of this. You don't get a good night's sleep and it shows in the circles under your eyes. You aren't eating right and it shows in your energy levels and the way your clothes begin to fit. You don't take the time to relax and focus on your blessings and you feel stressed and overwhelmed. I could go on but the bottom line is that your behavior is dictated by your feelings and thoughts.

There's a famous poem called "The Victor" by C.W. Longenecker and the first verse of the poem goes like this:

If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you are not, you don't
If you like to win, but you think you can't
It's almost certain you won't.

And then, of course, there's the Little Engine That Could!

Knowing your "motivating factors" is an important aspect of goal setting and creating a mindset for success. You must be in tune with what motivates you to do what you do. Why? Because it's only when you are clear on what's happening on the inside, what's motivating you on a deeper level, that you are able to set clear and attainable goals. Once you do this you can check in on your feelings and thoughts and course correct your actions, if needed, to get the results you intentionally set out to achieve.

You can start to identify your motivating factors by asking yourself:

1. Why have I chosen to do what I do?
2. What do I want to create in my life and why?
3. What inspires me to take action?
4. Why do I want to make an impact or make a difference?
5. What am I passionate about?
