HVAC Company Will Help You Keep Your Cool

Our HVAC systems are important! They keep us cool in the hot summer months, and warm during the winter. Unfortunately, they tend to break down when we need them the most. Whether you are in the market for a new system, or just need maintenance or repair on your existing equipment, make sure you are working with an experienced and reputable company who makes customer service a priority.

Products
You may be initially contacting a heating and air conditioning company because of a repair problem. However, there may come a time when you need a new system. Work with a company that has a variety of products, or at least the ones that are right for your home and in your area. Are there products that have energy efficient ratings that will make a difference on your power bill? In addition to air conditioners and furnaces, are there other related products that they sell and service? In other words, as they maintain and repair your equipment, can they do everything themselves? Ask about the manufacturer as well as their own warranties that may be available on different products.

Services
An HVAC company will likely get you the system you need and install it for you, as well. After that initial sale and installation, what kind of services do they offer? Is there a regular maintenance plan they offer? What is their repair service policy?

Maintenance Plans
If they offer maintenance plans, ask about the things that are checked and how frequently those checks occur. If you sign up for the maintenance plan, does that make any difference in the cost of repairs? Can you cancel the plan at any time? You may want to strongly consider a regular maintenance plan. Repairs can be costly. If you don't maintain the inner parts of your system, it could mean a whole new system earlier than expected. Just as you regularly change the oil in your car and rotate the tires, you also need to routinely check the fluids and other aspects of your HVAC system to keep it running smoothly.

Repairs
You will probably have a need to repair your system at some point. Ask about the company's policy on emergency or after-hours services. Is there a minimum charge for different types of visits? Do they normally respond quickly to service calls?
