Ideas for the Perfect Christening Gift

If you have ever been to a relatives christening, or even a friends, then you will know that it is sometimes hard to know what to buy as a gift. If your family or friends are religious, then they might have already mentioned what to do as a gift.

However, if you are new to christenings, then you might have no idea what to buy, especially if it is a baby's christening. It seems like buying the baby a toy would be a little bit inappropriate and not enough. Christening gifts are things that will last forever and the baby or the parents will be able to keep it for the rest of their lives.

If you are wondering what you should give as a christening gift, then read on for some more information.

Money

Now, giving the baby or child money does not mean that you walk up to them and hand them some money. That is inappropriate and uncalled for. The parents will also think that you haven't put any effort into it at all.

However, if the parents have told you that they have started a savings account, in the child's name, for the future, then you can make a donation to the saving's account. This is better than just giving money because it shows that you have a vested interest in the baby's future.

If you don't have the details of the savings account, then you can give the parents that money, or hand them a cheque. The parents will appreciate this a lot because raising a child is very expensive.

Silver plated options

You do have the option of buying the more traditional give for a christening. These tend to be silver plated items and can be anything from a moneybox, to an ornamental pacifier.

This type of gift is more for the parents than the child because the items will be too heavy for the child to play with. The parents will keep these items forever and cherish the memory of when they had their child christened.

Some parents even put these items in a memory box for safekeeping and pass them down to their kids when they have a family of their own. Therefore, the parents will think that this is a very thoughtful present and they will be very gracious. You should of it as buying them a family heirloom rather than a gift.

Star Name

A very good idea is to have a star named after the child and present the certificate of authentication at the christening. If you have the option, you should also invest in a star map so that you can show the parents where the star is.

The parents will love this and they will think of it as a bonding experience for when the child is older because they can go out to the countryside and tell the child where their star is. Not many people have a star named after them.

Keeping within this theme, you could upgrade the package and also buy them a plot of land on the moon. It will only be an acre but the child will own part of the moon.
