Supermarket Must Have a UPS System

What happens if there is power failure in a supermarket not equipped with a UPS system? There will be total chaos and confusion till alternative power sources are brought into place. Besides controlling the huge crowd gone panicky, attempts of pilferage, theft etc by unsavoury elements will have to be prevented. Hence, it becomes very critical for supermarkets to protect themselves from any such eventuality by investing rightly in UPS systems, which will provide for continuous power supply.

What is at stake in case of a power failure?

Safety of Individuals

The lives of human beings in the supermarket can be endangered in the chaotic conditions following a power failure. The chances of customers getting stuck in lifts also cannot be ruled out. Moreover, in order to run the installed equipment in supermarkets meant for the safety of customers like the fire control equipment or emergency services, there is a need for a constant supply of power.

Safety of Equipment

A break in the power supply can affect the sensitive equipment like computers installed at supermarkets. Power disruptions can lead to data corruption. Thus, the business can lose important data pertaining to customer accounts, investment or installed software. With internet marketing becoming as popular as physical shopping, loss of requisite software can affect this avenue of marketing. The restoration of all the lost data becomes a major issue.

The operations of cash registers, IT equipment and the working of automatic doors or lifts are all put to risk if there is no assurance of continuous power supply. Damage to furniture, fixtures in the ensuing panic can increase the financial losses.

Quality of food items in cold storage

The supermarkets have to adhere to regulatory provisions pertaining to cold storage items. These standards have to be met under any circumstances and for this the supermarkets need to have a secure power supply.

Though conditions can be resolved back to normal with the restoration of power, it will take some time for memories of the chaotic conditions to die down and the businesses to gain back their momentum.
