Buying Business Signs for Franchise Operations

Buying business signs can be a hassle for many franchise operations. There are issues about color and design consistency, the substrate used, and even the installation methods. When splitting responsibilities up between completely different sign companies, there can be problems from the outset. So franchise companies should use a single source for their business signs whenever they can.

The best way to get consistency between business signs is to use a sign company with multiple locations throughout the country. In many cases, the franchisor can often find a store in the same city as their new franchisee, which makes installation a lot easier.

Some sign stores are one-stop operations, so they can handle everything for a client's business signs, regardless of where the new sign will be installed. For many of these installations, the sign company can work with the local store in the franchisee's location, or hire contractors to do the installation.

In that case, the sign company will send an entire packet of information and instructions to create and install the signs, complete with the right colors and fonts. Then the installers can go onsite with this packet and install the graphics without any questions.

This does a number of different things for the franchisor.

First, they do not have to deal with several different vendors, which becomes a matter of too many cooks spoiling the soup. Instead, the franchisor gets a simple solution. They just have to call a single number, speak to one person, order their business signs, and arrange for installation. If the franchisor is responsible for helping with all their business signs, they have an easier time making those arrangements.

For those who buy a lot of business signs for many different locations as part of a larger branding campaign, the franchisor should meet with the sign manufacturer to discuss their needs and what they are looking for prior to starting a branding campaign.

The alternative is for the franchisor to use different vendors in different states. But the results they will get will be significantly different. The colors will be slightly different, the graphics may be a bit smaller or larger, and the business signs will have slightly different looks, the pricing will vary, making it hard to properly budget, and the installation method will be different.
