Stay Awake at Boring Meetings? 8 Super Star Solutions

You are once again stuck in a boring and very uninteresting meeting. Your boss who has been pretty fair with you gives the most boring talks each and every week. It is so bad that you want to go screaming out of the room. The worst part is that he or she always comes to ask you about his or her performance and you pretty much suck up to the boss.

You are tired of being such a stiff. You cannot really tell your boss or guest speaker how you really feel, but you do want to survive at least those deadly two hour meetings. Here are some solutions that will turn you into a super star, and be the envy of your co-workers.

Super star solution one, load yourself up on the latest vitamins, minerals and good healthy products. There are many products in the ads that promise that you will keep your eyes open, but they do not say your mind will be up to par. Of course, check this out with your physician because all those T.V. products are not equal.

Super solution two, the night before any meeting make sure that you go over in your good mind's eye what the topic is, and what is going to be covered. Decide to be an active participate at your next meeting. That should keep your eyes and hears alert for a spell.

Super solution three, learn a very dynamic note-taking technique called brainstorming or my love mind mapping. That will add tremendous color and excitement to your notes, and your attention span.

Super solution four, make sure the air conditioning system is on and working well. Make sure that there is some water that you can sip and not drink during the talk. Just getting up to get a glass of water may help in a change in venue for you. The act of moving additional muscles may help to keep you awake. You may want to present glasses of water to others. Make sure that you are not disturbing the lecture.

Super solution five, come with questions to the meeting. Do not sit there like a bump on a rock.

Super solution six, suggest new ideas at the presentation. Take over the meeting in such a way that everyone can participate, but do it with respect and recognition to your boss, who probably loves doing these weekly gatherings. Be very careful here, you may become better than the boss, and he or she may not like it. You have to be on very good terms with your boss.

Super solution seven, try to learn some tasteful jokes and short stories. Know your boss, or whomever is going to give the talk. Know your limits and your space. A lot of this can be office politics, know how to handle that and office power shifts. Before you make any radical moves, ask if anyone has done it before and learn from their record. You do not need any hassles over taking over a meeting. If you are called upon to do so, that would be a different matter. Then, you just have to make sure you do not out perform your boss.
