Your Promise And Are You Keeping It?

Once you launch something, whether it's an ad, an article, a website, a blog, or even an email, you're setting free a message. That message could be an invitation, an offer, information, an announcement... whatever it is, it's your commitment to the potential customer that what you are promising is valid, valuable, and something worth their investment and time.

But staying true to that commitment doesn't stop with the promise. As a matter of fact, it rarely starts with it.

Where does the promise start?

The promise starts with you, the business owner, as a promise to yourself. Many business owners think the promise to themselves is to be successful, wealthy, and perhaps even famous, but that is like putting wheels on a car that hasn't even been built yet.

No, the promise begins in the making, the building, the developing, the growing, the sweat equity that you put into that product or service. The promise may begin as a seed of an idea, but it's the use of the right tools, the right nurturing, the right setting, the right cultivating, that your business is given credibility.

Tools of the Trade

If you think of a garden, you won't even question that the tools needed to plant it are a shovel, a lawnmower, a trimmer, clippers, a rake…

In business, we also have "tools of the trade" that will help us deliver our promise to our customers. These tools include:

* Landing pages: Landing pages are the pages people are sent to who click on your message. Landing pages are often used to: announce events, extend invitations, highlight offers, share information. Highlight only one thing on a landing page. Giving people too many choices can result in their not making a decision at all, and you could lose them.
