Physical Borders No Longer a Barrier When Hiring an Employee

Are you drowning in a sea of paperwork? Could you do with an extra pair of hands?

You may have thought about bringing in extra hands to deal with your workload but don't feel you can afford the expense of a full-time or even part-time employee. Well fear not, there is an alternative; a Virtual Assistant (VA). A VA works from a remote location and can do anything an on-site admin assistant can do but without the associated overheads; sick pay, national insurance, tax, equipment etc.

However you may now be worrying about the logistics of working with an "absent" employee. Fear not, working with a VA is easier than ever before due to the immense amount of technology we have at our fingertips.

With typical "physical" employees it's simply a case of handing them the work and asking them to get on with it, following a bit of necessary training but when your VA is situated out of town - or in some cases in a different country all together - it's not as simple. Or is it?

The answer is yes! Work can be sent to your VA via email or post; you can even text in your requirements or let us know by telephone or Skype what you want doing. One client of NBS often hand delivers a flash drive containing raw documents, along with a pile of hand written notes with which I update the originals. I simply email the completed documents back to him.

If you are in the some locality, your VA can work with you on-site too for special one of projects and first consultations with a client is often face to face but most importantly FREE!

There are also a whole range of online programs and applications out there that can be used for file sharing. For example Dropbox is a file sharing program meaning you can take all your files and documents with you; it syncs with PC, Mac, laptop and iPad/iPhone, so you never have to email a file to yourself again. Clients can be granted access to certain files for collaboration purposes. Google Docs provides the same facility whereas Microsoft Office Groove is a similar collaboration program just not as mobile.
