Far too often, we, our leaders are, either, elected, selected, and/ or. ascend, to positions of leadership, because of their empty promises and rhetoric, or popularity. Wouldn't we be better served, and represented, if a leader, was, truly prepared, and ready, to effective handle the responsibilities of the position? We should measure the quality of a leader, by the quality of his PLANS, and, whether, they are based on a combination of the actual needs, constituents' perceptions, valuable priorities, ideas and ideology. He must proceed, with, consistent, genuine empathy, preparation, relevant, sustainable planning, and articulating an inspiring message, to encourage others, to join him, in his quest! With that in mind, this article will, briefly, attempt to consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, why this is, perhaps, the most essential component, of effective, meaningful leadership.
1. Perceptions; process; planning; professional; plus; preparation: Begin by effectively, listening, and learning, from every conversation and experience, so you might better understand the perceptions, of those you serve, with the utmost degree of genuine empathy! A leader should be judged, by the quality, and relevance of his preparation, and whether, he provides, a plus, in terms of the sustainability of his organization! Professionals respect this process, and use their planning, to provide the most relevant leadership!
2. Listen; learn; love/ like; leading: It's not leader enough to, merely, want to be a leader, and like doing so, but a great leader, loves leading, and making a quality difference, for the better! One must never believe, he has all the answers, but must be ready, willing and able, to effectively listen, and learn, from every conversation, and experience!
3. Attitude; aptitude; attention; articulate: Proceed with a positive, can - do, attitude, and a relevant, well - developed aptitude, and skill - set, and consistently, pay close attention to the best options and alternatives! Great leaders must articulate, a compelling, inspiring, motivating message, which drives the group, forward, in a relevant, sustainable manner!
4. Needs; nerve: Shouldn't we judge a leader, by whether he focuses on needs, rather than his personal/ political agenda, and self - interest? Leaders can't procrastinate, but, rather, must consistently proceed, with the nerve, to expand the limitations of his self - imposed, comfort zone!
5. Service/ serve; sustainable; system; solutions: Leadership begins with a focus on quality service and representation, and prioritizing, serving others, over one's self - interest! One's plans must seek relevant, sustainable solutions, and he must perceive and conceive of, create, and implement, the best possible system, to achieve the necessary objectives!
If you want to be a leader, will your PLANS, prove, you are worthy? Are you the right person, to be a leader?
