Bracket seeding is popular in all kinds of sports seeding tournaments, from baseball and basketball to tennis and match play golf. You can create your own baseball brackets in just minutes with a list of teams and a pencil and paper. These brackets will determine the order of your tournament and will help you fairly produce a winner for your tournament.
Determine the number of teams you will have for your bracket and what each seed should be. Seeds are often determined by win and loss record, with head-to-head results acting as a tiebreaker for teams with identical records.
Match the highest seed against the lowest seed for tournaments with two, four, eight, 16, 32 or 64 teams. Seed No. 1 will play No. 64, No. 2 will play No. 63, No. 32 will play No. 33 and so on.
Provide a bye round for the best team with three, seven, 15, 31 or 63 teams. Provide byes for two, three or four teams as you subtract from the even brackets listed in Step 2. For example, however many teams less than 64 you have, this will be the number of teams who have a first-round bye.
Face the best available teams against each other with bye rounds, and start the teams with byes against the winner of the lowest seed on the first half of the bracket. For example, the No. 1 seed will play in the second round the winner of the 32 vs. 33, 8 vs. 9 or 4 vs. 5 game.
