Remedy for Bikini Line Bumps

Women shave their bikini lines year round and not just in preparation for swimsuit seasons. The bikini line is sensitive and often prone to irritation and bumps. The bumps on your bikini line may not be harmful but can be embarrassing. Home remedies are safe to try for a preparation and shaving regimen that will keep bikini line bumps away.

Preventing Bikini Line Bumps
The skin around your bikini line is prone to bacteria, which can be dragged into hair follicles with a razor. Scrub the skin with antibacterial soap before and after shaving to prevent bacteria from causing skin irritation and bumps.

Exfoliate the skin with a body scrub or a homemade exfoliant made out of baking soda. Mix enough baking soda and water to form a paste and use it to exfoliate the skin. Exfoliating will push ingrown hairs to the surface, which allows you to have a closer and smoother shave. Ingrown hairs can irritate, causing redness of the skin and bumps in the bikini line.

Soak in warm water to soften up hair. Softening up skin and hair will allow for a closer shave without irritation.

Pour a small amount of olive oil into your hand and rub it on the bikini line before running a razor blade on the skin. The olive oil will allow the razor blade to move smoothly across the skin.

Razor Blades
Razor blades can cause irritation as well as introduce bacteria to sensitive skin areas such as the bikini line. Always use a fresh and new razor when shaving the bikini line. Run your razor through water after each swipe to get the most of out a sharp blade. Never use a dull or rusty razor on your bikini line.

After Shaving
Keep skin inflammation and bumps down by rinsing off with cool water. Always pat your bikini area completely dry with a clean washcloth. Dab over-the-counter astringent or over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream on your bikini line to keep inflammation down and soothe any irritation.
