Hosting events and parties can be fun, but sending out invitations may be a chore. Email services such as Gmail help relieve the burden by allowing you to store contact information about people who you might want to invite to an event. Gmail makes sending invitations to a group of people as easy as sending them an email. Google announced that the Gmail invitation feature will no longer work after June 30, 2014. After that date, use Google Calendar to send invitations to contacts.
Send From Gmail
Click “Compose” in Gmail to open a New Message window. Enter the email addresses or names of recipients you’d like to invite in the window’s “To” field. You can also click “Cc” or “Bcc” to enter email addresses or recipient names in fields that appear.
Move your mouse over the plus icon at the bottom of the window to reveal several other icons.
Click the Insert Invitation icon that looks like a calendar page to open the Invitation page. This page has What, When, Who, Where and Description text boxes. Enter details about your event in those text boxes. For instance, if you are throwing a party, you might type “Party” in the “What” text box.
Click “Insert Invitation” to view a window that shows a preview of the invitation. Click “Edit” if you’d like to update the invitation or click “Send” to send it to your recipients.
Send From Google Calendar
Visit your Google Calendar page and open the calendar that has an event you’d like people to attend.
Click the event to select it. If your calendar has no event, create a new one. After you create a new event, click that event to select it.
Click “Edit Event” and enter the email address of the person you wish to invite in the “Add Guests” text box. Click “Add” to add the person to the Guests list.
Move to the "Guests Can" section and put a check mark next to
abilities you’d like to give the guest. Choices are “Modify Event,” “Invite Others” and “See Guest List.”
