Gmail Labs offers the email service's new, experimental, and beta features. One of these features -- Undo Send -- makes it possible to stop Gmail-sent emails from being delivered. With Undo Send enabled, you can instantly take back emails that you're already regretting having sent. Whether it's riddled with typos or with sentiments you'd rather not express, the email doesn't have to reach its final destination if you act to stop it quickly enough. Keep in mind that the service is experimental and could malfunction. Google doesn't offer a guarantee for any Labs features.
Sign in to Gmail.
Click the "Gear" button, which you'll find in the top-right corner of the screen. Select "Labs" from the drop-down list.
Scroll down until you find "Undo Send." Alternatively, click "CTRL" and "F," and search for "Undo Send."
Click "Enable," and then "Save Changes."
Stop a Sent Message
Wait until you've sent an email that you want to stop. A message that says "Your Message Has Been Sent" will appear above your inbox. Two links are beside it: "Undo" and "View Message."
Click "Undo." Gmail will stop the sent email and return you to a screen where you can edit your unsent message.
Edit your message, or click "Discard" to get rid of it for good.
