Turning Off Yahoo Chats in eMail

While Yahoo notes that chat can be enriching, the company goes on to caution that, “there are people who want to take advantage of people’s trust.” If you use Yahoo email, it’s possible for scammers and cybercriminals to contact you using the Messenger that resides in the email window’s user interface. Even if you don’t care about strangers contacting you, you might want to disable the service to prevent anyone from initiating a chat request. Yahoo provides a quick way to do that.

Log in to your Yahoo email account.

Turning Off Yahoo Chats in eMail

Click the Messenger link to display a drop-down menu.

Click “Sign out of Messenger” to sign out of Messenger. The menu will display your status as Offline.
