Breakup & Still Look Good

Breaking up with someone multiple times isn't something that most of us plan, but sometimes it happens anyway. You date someone, break up, get back together and eventually decide that things just aren't working out. If you need to break up or dump someone more than once, follow a few simple rules.

Sit your significant other down in a quiet place where the two of you can be alone together. Avoid the temptation to do it in a public spot and respect your relationship.

Tell your partner that things just aren't working out and that you think taking a break will help things. Be calm in your approach and stick to the facts.

Emphasize the fact that you need some time and space to figure things out, but that you aren't blaming anyone. You want the whole process to go smoothly.

Give your partner time to respond and answer any questions he or she might have. Just keep a cool head and keep your temper in check.

End things by making a point to reiterate the breakup. You don't want your ex feeling confused and calling you frequently to set up plans for the future.

Tips & Warnings

If you're worried about your soon to be ex thinking it's a break and not a breakup, emphasize the fact that you want to date other people and not keep the relationship going.
Avoid putting the blame on your partner. He or she will already feel bad about the breakup and there's no reason to make them feel worse.
