Reset Security in Grand Am

The Pontiac Grand Am is equipped with a keyless entry security system. This prevents thieves from entering your vehicle, because your keyless entry transmitter is coded to prevent your transmitter from unlocking your vehicle. The signal that is transmitted is never used twice in a row, and the vehicle will not respond to a signal that has been sent more than once.

Stand near your Grand Am so that the transmitter can pick up the signal for a reset.

Press and hold the "Lock" and "Unlock" button simultaneously on the transmitter.

Hold both buttons down for 7 seconds. This will lock and unlock the door, and synchronize the transmitter with the vehicle. If this doesn't work, you will have to bring it to a General Motors dealer for service.
