So you want to start your own blog but don't know where to begin? It's easier than you think. Blogs are a user-generated Web sites where writers comment on particular subjects, such as food, politics or local news; some blogs also serve as personal online diaries. Here's how to start your own blog.
Choose a theme for your blog. You can use your personal Web journal to share your thoughts with others, swap recipes and culinary experiences, voice your political opinion or discuss a hobby or craft.
Select a service to host your blog. Check out the Resources section below to learn more about these service providers.
Sign up with any of the blogging services.
Follow the instructions and design your blog by playing around with available templates, themes and designs.
Create your profile. It can be a minimalist profile or an elaborate profile, depending on your preferences. You can also choose to put up your picture on the profile. Alternatively, you may also want to blog anonymously to protect your privacy. In that case, leave out as much personal information as possible from your profile as well as from your blog posts.
Write your first post. Begin with a "Welcome to my Blog" post. Write a short paragraph about why you have started a blog, what do you intend to write about and a small introduction about yourself.
Focus on the theme of your blog, but remember that it is okay to deviate from the main topic and write about other ideas occasionally.
Organize your posts by genre and category, such as business, culture and education.
Update your blog regularly. If people like what you write, they will visit your blog regularly and you will be able to build a large readership.
Embellish your blog by adding pictures, videos and music files.
