Blogging is a popular Internet pastime many people find enjoyable. There are almost an infinite number of blogs because they are as diverse as the people who write them. Most bloggers enjoy the exposure the Internet provides for their blogs and actively seek readers. But there might be times when a blog owner desires privacy and does not want a blog to be visible on the Internet.
- Visit JohnKolbert.com and download the Absolute Privacy plug-in for WordPress blogs. This plug-in requires visitors to enter a full name, choose a password and be approved by the blog administrator before viewing a blog. The blog owner will receive an email when a visitor wants to view the blog. The visitor can be approved or deleted according to the blog owner's desires.
- Log in to your WordPress blog with your user name and password. Install the plug-in after downloading it. Within the administration panel of the WordPress blog, find the plug-in section along the left side. Click this, then select "Add New" from the left sidebar. Browse for the downloaded plug-in folder and select it when you find it. Click "Install Now." The plug-in will appear on a list of installed plug-ins. Locate the "Absolute Privacy" plug-in within the list of plug-ins and activate it.
- Open the "General Settings" section by clicking "Settings" on the left sidebar. Find the "Absolute Privacy" tab and click it to open these settings. Place a check in the "Lock Down Box" to place the blog in a completely private mode so it is not visible to anyone without your approval.
