The Internet can be a very powerful tool for writing reviews or spreading the word about a negative incident with a company, product or service. Starting a complaint blog about misleading or disappointing experience you've had is a great way to warn others about your experience and even start a discussion from others who might have information about additional companies.
Starting a Blog
Use WordPress to start a complaint blog. Wordpress.com is a free blogging website that you can customize to your own specific look and feel. WordPress has a variety of templates that you can use to start your blog. Choose a template to give your blog a customized look, without having to know anything about website coding or development. WordPress is a browser-based program, so you can post your blog complaints from anywhere, even from your mobile phone. However, WordPress does not allow you to upload templates from other websites or designers without paying a fee, so it is not a good blogging site for you if you want to edit code at all.
Use Blogger to blog about complaints. Blogger is another free blogging website, similar to WordPress, on which you can start a free blog. Blogger also has a variety of templates you can use to customize the look and feel of your blog. With Blogger, you can also upload templates from other designers. You can find free templates online, made by various designers, so you can create a more custom look for your complaint blog, or even design and use your own template without paying a fee. Add online advertising from external companies to place on your blog, and you will receive payment every time someone clicks on an ad on your page. This will help you receive a small amount of compensation for your blog.
Use TypePad to create a complaint blog. Like the other two sites, TypePad is an online blogging site that allows you to create and host a blog; however, TypePad is not a free service. Pricing for a blog on TypePad.com starts at $8.95, and the site offers a variety of templates or full customization of your own. What sets TypePad apart from the other two blogging sites is that with your paid service, you receive your own domain name, such as www.mycomplaintblog.com, whereas WordPress and Blogger still have their site name in the address, such as www.mycomplaintblog.wordpress.com or www.mycomplaintblog.blogspot.com.
Making a Complaint Blog
Create a blog with a title that makes it very clear what the blog is about. Also, try to use a keyword in your title; this will make it easier for the blog to be found by the search engines. For instance, try to use the word "complaint" or "consumer complaints" in your title, which will help the search engines classify your blog as a consumer complaint blog.
Add a brief explanation at the top of your blog, again using keywords to explain the purpose of your blog. Specify that you are not just complaining about life in general but that will you post thorough and honest evaluations of negative experiences you have. Also, encourage others to share their own negative experiences in the comment section.
Add a discussion board, where visitors can respond and share similar experiences, or upload their own issues they've had. Monitor the boards, and if you see a consistent complaint about a company being posted that you haven't covered, dedicate a post to the issue.
