The About section on your Facebook Timeline, often called your bio, allows you to provide details about your personal life and history that can be viewed by visitors to the page. You can list biographical information such as your work history, education, home town, favorite quotations and even your current relationship status. By keeping the section current, you allow your friends and acquaintances to stay up to date on your life events.
Go to your Facebook Timeline and click the "Update Info" button on your cover photo. Facebook opens the About section of your Timeline. The section is divided into several subsections that contain different types of biographical and personal information. Most subsections have an "Edit" button you can click to change the information.
Edit the "Work and Education" section to add an employer or school. Type in the name of a company or school into the appropriate field and if Facebook already has a page for it the institution appears in a drop-down list. Just click the name to select it or press "Enter." You're be prompted to add information such as your position, area of study and a time period. Click the "Edit" button on an existing entry to change the information or click the "X" to delete an entry.
Edit the "Family" section to change your relationship status or to list family members. When you type in the name of the person with whom you are in a relationship, or the name of a family member, Facebook contacts the other person to confirm the relationship. The person's name won't show up on your Timeline unless they respond. Non-Facebook members must join before they can confirm a relationship and Facebook asks you to provide an email address for these individuals.
Edit the "About You" section to write a brief description about yourself for others to see and edit the "Favorite Quotations" section if you have a quote you want to share.
Edit the "Living" section to list your home town or current city of residence. You can replace an outdated entry by clicking the "X" next to it and then typing in the new city.
Edit the "Basic" information section to enter your gender, birthday, sexual preference, languages you speak, your religion or your political views. If you don't want people to know your age, you can change the setting under your birthday to "Show Only Month & Day on My Timeline."
Edit the "Contact Information" section to add items such as email addresses, phone numbers, your mailing address and your website address.
Add items to the "History by Year" section by clicking "Add a Life Event," selecting a category and adding additional details. To remove a life event, click the date or year, click the arrow in the corner of the pop-up and select "Delete."
