If you have a blog or website, a Facebook badge can be a helpful way to get your readers to connect with you in a more personal way. While it's easy to set up a badge right from Facebook, from time to time you may come across problems with displaying the badge on your blog or website. A few code problems may be the culprit.
Check the Code
If you're not overly familiar with the way your badge code is supposed to look, then you may find it difficult to know whether you copied and pasted the code onto your blog or website correctly. If you still have the original Facebook Badges page still open with the code for your badge displayed, see if you copied and pasted the entire code and didn't forget a character or two at the beginning or end. If it's been a while since you generated the code, replicate the process by going back to the Facebook Badges page and making a new one. Then try pasting it into your website or blog once again.
Within the Code
Sometimes, specific language within the code doesn't work for every site. Specifically, the word "badge" in the URL within the embed code might cause trouble. Once you've pasted your code into your site or blog, it may look something like this, with your profile or page name in place of the word "user":
<a href="http://www.facebook.com/user" target="_TOP" title="User">
<img alt="user" style="border: 0px none ;" src="http://www.badge.facebook.com/badge/000000000.1700.00000000.png" />
</a>.
Notice the word "badge" before the "facebook.com" part in the second URL. By removing that, you may have better luck displaying your badge.
Check the placement
If you've pasted your badge in the middle of a Web page or blog post, you may be having trouble because of the placement of your embed code. Navigate to HTML or source view in your Web editor, as opposed to visual view, and look for the embed code on the page. If you pasted that code in the middle of any other lines of code, your badge isn't going to work, and you may have goofed up other formatting on your page as well. Your best bet is to cut the embed code, and then place your cursor where you're certain a line of code has ended. You can be sure the line has ended when you see something like "/>" at the end of a long string. Then paste the code onto the page.
Privacy settings
If you're still having trouble with displaying the badge for your Facebook Page, don't overlook the possibility that the problem is with your page or profile's privacy settings. If you have your privacy settings set too high, you may not be able to display the information that you want within your badge, and that may be messing things up. Log in to your Facebook account, and then click "Account" from the top of the page, then "Privacy Settings." At the following pages, loosen up your privacy settings to see if that helps to display your badge.
