Social networking giant Facebook, launched in 2004, allows users to stay in touch and reunite with people by becoming "friends" on the site. Users create profiles listing their actual first and last names, so anyone who searches for them on Facebook can find them. After finding a profile, a Facebook user can send a friend request, which requires acceptance by the recipient before the two become friends on Facebook.
