Get Square Root Sign on Facebook

Even though Facebook limits status updates to plain text and some emoticons, you can add more symbols to make them look unique and interesting. Use Windows' free "Character Map" tool to find music, currency, math and other symbols that will display correctly in a Web browser. Next time you want to do something different to your status updates, try the symbols in your operating system's font map.

Click the Windows 7 button to display the Start Menu. Type "character map" in the search box and select the Character Map program.

Check "Advanced view" in the "Character Map" application window if it is not enabled.

Select a font with an "O" symbol next to its name in the font drop-down list.

Click "Unicode" next to "Character Set." Click "Unicode Subrange" next to "Group by."

Select "Mathematical Operations" in the "Group by" dialog box.

Find the square root symbol in the character map. The square root symbol resembles a check mark. Double-click the symbol to make it appear in the "Characters to copy" text box.

Click "Copy."

Log into Facebook. Click in the "Status" box. Press "Ctrl" and "V" or right-click and then click "Paste" to copy the square root symbol.

Click "Share."
