Link Someone in Facebook Message

Linking to someone in a Facebook message is a little more complex then linking to someone in a Facebook status. Facebook messages are basically emails within Facebook. To link to someone in a message, you need to copy and paste the person's Facebook URL into the message. Just typing the friend's name or adding an @ symbol in front of the name does not work in messages.

Log into your Facebook account.

Click in the "Search" field and type the name of the friend that you want to link to. Click on the name of the friend, group, application or fan page that you want to link.

Click the Web address and highlight the URL. Press "Ctrl" and "C" on your keyboard or right-click and choose Copy.

Click the Messages icon on the upper left corner of your Facebook page. Click "Send a New Message."

Type the message recipient's name in the Enter a Friend's Name filed. Click in the Message field and type your email message.

Press "Ctrl" and "V" or right-click and choose Paste to paste the URL. A Link field and the linked page appear below the message.

Remove the hyperlink from the message if desired. Click in the Message field and delete the URL. This does not remove the link from the message.
