Facebook's status updates can display more than plain text. Using a wide assortment of facebook copy-and-paste symbols, you can say "I love you" or send a shout-out to one of your friends. These facebook symbols are available on a number of websites, and you can integrate one or more icons into your next status update in a matter of seconds.
Browse to any website featuring Facebook symbols, such as Facebook Symbols, F Symbols or Facebook Emoticons Symbols.
Scroll through the site's collection of symbols until you find an icon that best fits the type of shout-out you want to make. Use your cursor to highlight the icon, then click "Edit" and select "Copy" to copy the icon to your clipboard.
Browse to Facebook.com and log in to your account.
Type your shout-out message into the "What's on your mind?" or "What's Happening" box on any Facebook page. Click "Edit" on your browser toolbar and then click "Paste" from the drop-down menu to paste the icon into your status update.
Type the Facebook username of the person to whom you want to send the shout-out, preceded by an "@" symbol, into the status update. Wait a few seconds for Facebook to automatically display a list of people with similar names and select the correct user from the drop-down menu. The user's name will now be included in your status update and she'll be sent a notification that she has been included.
Click "Share" to publish your status update.
