Facebook is one of the most popular websites on the World Wide Web, hosting more than 600 millions users per month. Members can create personal profiles for themselves to enable social networking amongst friends and relatives, and they can also set up fan pages for their favorite celebrities and issues. The Facebook Terms of Service requires users to use accurate personal information when setting up accounts, however starting a fake Facebook profile or page for a project is as easy as setting up a legitimate one.
Create Fake Email Account
Surf to any free web-based email service, such as Gmail (gmail.com) or Yahoo Mail (mail.yahoo.com). Choose "Create a New Account."
Fill out all the data required to open a free email account, such as "Name," "Login Name," "Password," "Birthday," remembering to use the information invented for the fake persona you have created rather than your own.
Click on "Create New Account" (Yahoo) or "I Accept, Create New Account" (Gmail.)
Follow the directions to finish creating your new web-based email account, then send an email to your personal email to test that it is working properly.
Create Fake Facebook profile.
Decide what your fake persona's name, sex and birthday will be. Note this for future reference so you will not forget.
Guide your Web browser to facebook.com.
Fill out the blank boxes beneath the Sign Up section of the Facebook homepage, entering your persona's Name and Email in the appropriate fields. Be sure to use the fake email address you set up in the previous step.
Fill in the Password information and pull down the boxes next to "Sex" and "Birthday" to complete that information for your fake persona.
Click "Sign Up."
Fulfill the Security Checkby entering the letters shown in the text box into the space marked "Text In The Box," then click the "Sign Up" button.
Click the "Skip This Step" link when you are asked "Are your friends already on Facebook?"
Fill in the High School, College/University and Employer information for your fake persona, then click "Save & Continue," or you may skip this step by clicking the "Skip" link.
Choose a photo for your fake persona by clicking "Upload a Photo" or "Take a Photo," then follow the directions given to complete the task, or you may skip this step by clicking the "Skip" link.
Click the "Go to your email" button to be taken to the email address you created for your fake persona, then view the "Welcome to Facebook" email that has been sent to this account and click the "Get Started" button to return to Facebook.
Click the "Profile" link in the upper ight-hand portion of Facebook, then click on the "Edit Profile" link beneath the name of your fake persona.
Fill in all the information requested in each of the categories listed along the left side of the Facebook window --- such as Basic Information, Education & Work and Activities & Interests --- and click the "Save Changes" button each time your are finished before moving to another category.
Click on the "Account" link at the top right portion of the Facebook window to update information concerning such topics as Account Settings and Security Settings for your fake profile.
Use your fake Facebook profile as you would a legitimate profile.
