Tips to Delete Facebook IM

Facebook's instant messenger automatically saves a record of all your past conversations with others. For the most part, this is a beneficial feature, allowing you to look up phone numbers, dates and other information that was previously sent to you. However, if anyone else has access to your Facebook account, you may want to delete individual messages or entire conversations to protect your privacy.

Log in to your Facebook account.

Click on any name in the panel on the right side of the screen. An IM box pops up, containing recent conversations you had with that person.

Click on the "Actions" icon in the top right corner of the IM box.

Click on "See full conversation" in the drop-down menu.

Click on the "Actions" icon in the top right corner of the IM box once again.

Click on "Delete Messages" in the drop-down menu.

Click on each individual message that you want to delete.

Click on "Delete Selected" at the bottom of the page. Alternatively, click on "Delete All" to delete all the conversations.
