When you create an event on Facebook, anyone can see it -- including those who weren't invited. This can be a problem if you're planning something like a surprise party. Obviously, if the person you're throwing the party for knows about the party, it isn't much of a surprise. Fortunately, when you create an event, you have the option to make it a private, preventing anyone who's not invited from seeing the event on their Facebook page.
Log into Facebook.
Click "Events" on the left-hand side.
Click "Create an Event."
Uncheck the box that says "Anyone can view and RSVP." If you need to hide an event that's already been created, open the event by clicking on it, then click "Edit Event" and uncheck the "Anyone can view and RSVP" box.
