You can access the social networking website Facebook directly from the iPad's built-in web browser, which negates the necessity for a dedicated iPad Facebook application. The iPhone app offers one particular feature that isn't available through web browser access, which is the ability to synchronize contacts between Facebook and the device's Contacts application.
