Putting your husband's name on Facebook in your relationship status saves you the trouble of explaining your status to friends and family alike. It also provides a handy link to your significant other's profile. To list your husband in your relationship status, he must also be your friend. After you list him as your husband, a notification message is sent to him. He has to confirm that you are his wife for him to be linked to your account.
