Stop Comments on Facebook Status

By changing your profile settings on Facebook, it is possible to completely prevent others from posting comments on your status updates. This is useful if you want to just publish one-way postings, like for news and announcements to a group. You can also limit permissions of who can comment to only "Friends of friends" or only to people on your "Friends" list. This can be changed back at any time, so others can comment on your posts.

Log into your Facebook account, and then click on the "Account" drop-down button on the top right of the window. Click on "Privacy Settings."

Look for a blue pencil icon under "Sharing on Facebook" with a link that says "Customize settings." Click this link, which will take you to a page where you can modify your Facebook permissions.

Change the drop-down next to "Permission to comment on your posts," which is located under the section called "Things others share." If you want to completely block comments, select the "Custom" option. This will bring up a new window, where you should select "Only Me," and then click "Save Setting."
