Facebook is a social network that lets you connect with friends, family and coworkers. People find you on Facebook through search results and friend suggestions. If your real name is different than the name some friends or family may use to search for you, change your name. By using an alternative name on Facebook, you let people find you searching with your real name or other name, such as a nickname, shortened name or maiden name.
Log into your Facebook account using your email and password. Click the "Account" menu to expand the drop-down. Select "Account Settings."
Click the "Change" link next to the "Real Name" section. Scroll down to the "Alternate Name" section and type your alternative name. Click the "Include this name on my profile" tick-box.
Press "Save Changes" to apply your new settings and to save your alternate name. Your alternate name is displayed on your profile and you appear in search results for that name.
