Download Facebook Posts

Facebook now lets users download their information, including wall posts, photos, videos and messages, as of October 2010. Previously, the social network didn't give users this ability. But with user feedback the company decided to develop and implement this useful feature. You can access this feature from the "Account Settings" page.

Log in to your personal Facebook account and click the "Account" option on the navigation bar.

Select "Account Settings" from the sub-menu.

Go to the "Settings" tab and click the "Learn More" link next to "Download Your Information."

Click the "Download" button and when the dialog box opens, click "Download" again. Facebook will email you with a link when your download is ready. All information is contained a single zip file and you cannot select data you will download.

Tips & Warnings

It may take up to an hour before you receive an email from Facebook. Be patient. You will be notified by the site when your download is ready.
If you return to the "Download Your Information" page while you're waiting, it will show a "Pending" status message, indicating your download is being generated.
