How to Get Your Website Ranking Higher in Web Searches on Google for Free

Increasing a website's position on a particular search engine ranking position, or SERP, is the process by which a webmaster intentionally manipulates the content of her website so that a particular search engine's ranking algorithm will look more favorably on her website. This allows the website to reach a larger audience and usually results in higher traffic.

Identify the Google Page Rank of the website in question using the Google PageRank Checker from PRChecker.info.

Create a sitemap using xml-sitemaps.com and submit the sitemap to Google by logging in to the Google Webmaster Account associated with the website and clicking on "Sitemaps" under Site Configuration options.

Interlink each of the website's individual pages to each other.

Find keywords that apply to the website and sprinkle them throughout the website's content. Include the keywords in page titles to improve your Google ranking.

Trade links with other websites, but verify the legitimacy of a site beforehand. Google prefers sites that don't "hang out in bad neighborhoods" of the Internet. Linking to higher-ranking websites is beneficial.

Regularly add quality, original content to the website. The more original content available on the site, the more weight Google gives the page in search engine rankings.
