Need to Download to Upload Pictures on Facebook

Facebook is the most popular photo sharing website on the Internet. As of December 2010, Facebook users uploaded over 60 billion photos. By summer 2011, experts predict Facebook will reach over 100 billion total photo uploads. You can also upload your pictures directly from your Web browser by first installing a small plugin. After the quick installation, you can immediately upload pictures from your computer to your Facebook account.

Adobe Flash
In order to upload your pictures to the Facebook social network, you will need to have Adobe Flash player installed. Adobe Flash is a small, non-obtrusive browser plugin that many sites use to display special content to their visitors. The Facebook Plug-In relies on Flash technology, so make sure you have it installed on your browser. You can download the most recent version from Adobe's website (adobe.com).

Facebook Plug-In
The Facebook Plug-In is a tiny browser extension that provides picture uploading functionality. The first time you upload a photo you will be prompted to install the software. Click the "Install" when you see the "Facebook Plug-In" pop-up window.

Uploading Pictures
When you have the Facebook Plug-In activated on your browser, you can navigate to pictures on your hard drive without pulling another program. You can browse from directory to directory and select one, multiple photos or all photos to upload. When you have chosen your photos, simply click the "Use Selected Photos" and the uploader will take over.

Troubleshooting
Computer users experience technical issues with all kinds of software, including the Facebook uploader. Always make sure you have the Adobe Flash player installed for your browser and that it is the latest version. Additionally, you can these other tips: upload an unedited version of the photo, check the photo's dimensions, size and format. As of April 2011, Facebook allows JPG, BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF image files. If these tips don't help, then ensure the latest version of the browser is installed or try with a different browser, if available.
