Opt Out of Google History

Google Web History---formerly Google Search History and sometimes referred to as just "Google History"---is a search-enhancement utility that stores your web searching and browsing histories on Google's servers. Google promotes the service as a way to "personalize" your search results with more relevant links and to make your browsing history portable, so you can find pages again on a different computer. People who aren't comfortable with details about their Internet activity being tracked in this way can pause Web History, delete items from it or opt out of the service altogether.

Opt Out Permanently
Go to Google and log in to your Google account. Web History is available only to Google account holders, and it tracks their data only while they are logged in. If you don't have an account, there's nothing to opt out of.

Click the "Edit" link next to the "My Products" header on your Google account page.

Click "Remove Web History permanently." This will send you to a verification screen where Google asks you if you're serious.

Check the box next to "Yes, I want to permanently remove Web History from my Google account."

Enter your password in the field provided and click the "Remove Web History" button.

Pause Web History or Delete Items
Log in to your Google account.

Go to the "My Products" section of your account page and click the "Web History" link.

Click "Pause" in the left-hand navigation menu. Web History has now stopped collecting information. Note that the "Pause" link has changed to "Resume." To restart the service in the future, come back to the Web History page and click that link.

Click "Remove Items" if you want to delete records of your web activity. Check the boxes on the items you want to delete---or just click the "Select all" link. Click "Remove."
