Facebook tags alert your friends to photos they're in. When you tag a friend in a photo, it shows up on their profile page; you can tag any photo that you are able to see. Tags in status updates let friends know you have mentioned them -- tagging more than one person is just as easy as tagging one person. Tags in status updates are permanent, unless the entire status is deleted, but photo tags may be removed at any time.
Click in the "What's on your mind?" field at the top of the Facebook homepage or your personal profile.
Begin to type your status, and enter the "@" symbol where you want to tag a friend. Type the first few letters of a friend's name -- Facebook will suggest possible matches. Select a friend's name by clicking on it once. Repeat the process to tag another friend.
Tag friends in your photos by clicking once on the photo to open its full view and then clicking the "Tag This Photo" link just under the photo.
Click on the face of a person in the photo and then type their name in the "Type any name or tag" field. Press "Enter" to save the tag and repeat the process for each friend in the image.
