Turn off Captcha on Facebook

For security purposes, Facebook requires users with unverified accounts to enter into an input box a series of characters that appear on-screen when sending friend requests to other users. The captcha security measure lets Facebook know that there is a real person on the other end of the request. As an alternative to entering a captcha each time you send a friend request, you have the option to verify your account with Facebook. You can do so using a text-message code sent to your mobile phone or by using a valid email address from an affiliate university or college.

Click the "Verify" link found below the captcha that appears when sending a friend request.

Enter your mobile phone number by selecting your country code and keying in your phone number without any special characters or leading zeros.

Follow the prompts to have a confirmation code sent to your mobile phone.

Enter the code that you receive in the "Code" field and click the "Confirm" button.

Verify With Email Address
Click the "Account" link in the top-right corner of your Facebook profile page and select "Account Settings."

Click the "Networks" tab.

Enter the name of the college or university with which you are associated in the "Join a Network" field.

Enter the email address provided to you by the college or university in the "Network Email Address" field and click "Join Network."

Access the email address you entered to confirm your affiliation to the network.
