Turn Off Facebook Email

If you don't check your Facebook account very often, getting email notifications when someone asks to be your friend or tags you in a photo may be helpful. If, on the other hand, you're on the site each day to check for new notifications, email notifications are a redundant nuisance. Luckily, you can disable emails from Facebook in just a few seconds. The action is not permanent, and you can enable the service again at any time.

Click on the "Account" link in the upper right corner of your Facebook screen.

Choose "Account Settings" from the drop-down menu.

Go to the "Notifications" tab.

Uncheck every box in the "Email" column to stop getting emails from Facebook. Alternatively, leave some of the boxes checked to continue to get certain emails -- each type of notification is listed separately, such as when "someone posts on your wall" or "asks to list you as family."

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Save Changes."
