Repair Tennis Court Cracks

Tennis courts ideally require an even surface for a fair match to take place. Repairing cracks in a tennis court is essential to ensuring safe and effective play. Concrete and asphalt surfaces break down in the sunlight over time due to oxidation, causing surface materials to degenerate. Repairing a tennis-court crack can be accomplished in as little as two to three days.

Dig into the crack with a putty knife, or use your fingers, to clean the area of any weeds, grass or debris.

Place the sharp end of a hand chisel onto any protruding slivers of asphalt or concrete in the crack. Hammer the back end of the chisel firmly to chip the substance loose. Continue chipping away protruding slivers within the crack until all sides within the crack are smooth. Repeat cleaning process.

Pour pre-mixed acrylic resurfacing liquid into the crack until it begins to slightly overflow. The liquid will be thick and gooey. Choose an acrylic resurfacing liquid containing vinyl acetate and latex elements to ensure proper adhesion and ball bounce.

Pull a rubber squeegee along the surface of the filled-in crack to remove excess resurfacing agent.

Wipe excess agent away with a towel. Allow 24 to 36 hours for the surface to dry before using the court.
