Switch From GoDaddy Email to Gmail

When you purchase a domain through the popular GoDaddy registration service, you also receive several complimentary GoDaddy email accounts that include your domain name after the "@" symbol. You can check GoDaddy email through any Web email client, including the free Gmail online email service, and import email and contacts to Gmail from your GoDaddy email address, then set up Gmail to send and receive email via your GoDaddy account.

Import Mail
Log in to your Gmail account.

Click the gear-shaped icon in the upper-right corner of the screen and click "Mail Settings" in the drop-down list.

Click the "Accounts and Import" tab.

Click the "Import mail and contacts" button. This opens an import mail wizard in a new browser window.

Type your GoDaddy email address in the text box and click "Continue."

Type your GoDaddy password in the text box and click "Continue."

Type "mail.domainname.com" in the POP server box. Substitute the name of the domain that you registered through GoDaddy in place of "domainname" in the above example.

Click the "Start import" button to import all contacts and mail from your GoDaddy email account.

Send Mail
Click the "Send mail from another address" button under the "Accounts and Import" tab in Gmail.

Type your GoDaddy email address in the text box and click "Next Step" twice.

Open your GoDaddy email and locate the email that you received from Gmail.

Clink the confirmation link in the email to allow Gmail to send mail from your GoDaddy email address.

Check Mail
Click the "Add POP3 email account" button under the "Accounts and Import" tab in Gmail.

Type your GoDaddy email address in the text box and click "Next Step."

Type your GoDaddy password in the "Password" field.

Type "mail.domainname.com" in the POP server box. Substitute the name of the domain that you registered through GoDaddy in place of "domainname" in the above example.

Click "Add Account." Gmail now periodically checks your GoDaddy account and imports your mail.
