The default email program on Microsoft Windows-based computers is usually the email client that shipped with the computer. If you decide to install new email software, you might want to set this software as the default email client. This ensures your preferred email client automatically launches each time you use the computer to send or receive an email. Users of Lotus Notes can easily set Lotus Notes as the default email client for your computer with the "Default Program" tool.
Click "Start" on the desktop taskbar.
Click "Default Programs" and then click "Set Default Programs." You must be logged in as an administrator to change default programs. On home computers, this is usually the Windows login password. If prompted, enter your administrator password.
Select "Lotus Notes" from the list of programs in the "Programs" pane.
Click the "Set This Program As Default" button in the main window. This sets the program to open all the file types and protocols it can by default.
Click "OK." Lotus Notes is now the default email client on the computer.
