Copy & Paste a Clock Into Email

When composing HTML emails, the code used can mean the difference between success and failure. For example, <div> tags work well with some email clients, but not with others; and Javascript, Flash and Iframe may not work at all. If you want to paste a clock into an email, there are some methods that will help your cause, but there is no guarantee that your email will render properly to the intended recipient. Most clocks that can be copied and pasted into emails will be based in Javascript, Flash and Iframe.

Visit an HTML clock provider. Configure your clock to your liking, following the individual provider's instructions.

Highlight the code provided when you complete the configuration and press “Control” and “C” on your keyboard to copy it.

Open your email program and open a new email.

Open the option to use HTML as part of your email in your email program. The process will vary depending on what program you are using.

Select “Insert” and “HTML…” if using Thunderbird. Click “Control” and “P” on your keyboard to paste the code into the interface. Click “Insert” at the bottom of the dialog box. Finish composing and send your email. If you are using Outlook Express, move to Step 6; if you are using Gmail, skip to Step 7.

Select “Insert” and “Text from File” in Outlook Express, this will also require that you open a new Notepad document, paste your clock code by pressing “Control” and “P” on your keyboard, and saving the document. Select “HTML” as the file type. Locate and select your saved HTML document. Click “Open” in the dialog box. You can finish composing your email and send it.

Open your Wysiwyg HTML editor; make sure you are in the code portion. Place your cursor in the main field and press “Control” and “P” on your keyboard to paste the code. Enter the Wysiwyg portion of your HTML editor and highlight everything. Press “Control” and “C” on your keyboard to copy it.
