Delete eMail Address Suggestions

When you start typing an email address while sending an email in your email client, it will provide you with email address suggestions based on people you've sent emails to in the past. Over time, email address suggestions can build up, especially if you email lots of people once and then never email them again. Delete email address suggestions by deleting them from Outlook's autocomplete list or removing the automatically added addresses from Gmail or Mozilla Thunderbird's contacts.

Microsoft Outlook
Click "New Email" at the top, left corner of the Microsoft Outlook window.

Start typing an email address into the "To" box in the "New Email" window.

Select an email address suggestion in the list that appears by pressing the up and down arrow keys.

Delete the selected email address suggestion by pressing "Delete."

Google Gmail
Open the contacts manager by clicking "Contacts" at the left side of the Gmail window.

View all contacts, including contacts automatically added by Gmail, by clicking "All Contacts" at the left side of the "Contacts" pane.

Select a contact by clicking it in the contacts list.

Delete the selected contact by clicking "Delete" at the top right corner of the Contact pane. Gmail only shows email address suggestions for email addresses in your contacts list.

Mozilla Thunderbird
Open the address book by clicking "Tools" at the top of the Mozilla Thunderbird window and "Address Book."

View addresses that Thunderbird automatically added by clicking "Collected Addresses" in the left pane of the "Address Book" window or view addresses that you added to Thunderbird yourself by clicking "Personal Address Book."

Delete an address book entry by right-clicking it and clicking "Delete." Mozilla Thunderbird only shows email address suggestions for email addresses stored in your address book.
